What is Bronchiectasis?

Updated: Mar 16, 2020

Well let me tell you all about it!!! It is a condition in which the lungs airways become so damage that it is hard to clear mucous. It is treated almost just like cystic fibrosis. Mucous can build up in my lungs and this is where bacteria can grow and cause infection. I have to do chest therapy daily with breathing treatments to cough the mucous out (I know sounds gross it kinda is).

I struggle being in smoky rooms and I can't hold my breath very long underwater. Exercise is actually something in my treatment plan though. Exercising my lungs everyday by running or lifting weights helps not only my bronchiectasis but my stress and anxiety.

There are fewer than 200,000 cases of bronchiectasis in the U.S. today.
