It feels almost impossible to find an adult pulmonary doctor. All of my lung doctors were at Childrens Hospital, but once I turned 19 I was too old for them. This started the journey of me finding a new doctor. These specialists are hard to get appointments with, but it was important i had someone incase i got sick. Another silver lining of my recent hospital stay is, I got in to see an amazing doctor.

I had my first appointment with her on 03/13/2020 and she explained to me that UAB has created an entire branch for bronchiectasis patients. This is amazing, because they are all working hard to find new treatments and ways to treat my lung disease. This visit with her gave me a lot of hope and she made me feel very much taken care of. We discussed my treatment plan and what do to daily to prevent infection. UAB is an amazing hospital and I definitely recommend their pulmonary clinic to anyone else who struggle with lung disease.

I felt like I was the youngest one in there during this appointment. Most of the people with my disease I feel like are a lot older. If you or anyone you know are in their 20s with a lung disease please hit me up! Sometimes it feels lonely being so young dealing with something so extraordinary. Most of my friends only have school or work to worry about, it would be nice to meet someone who understands.
